Navratri 2020

Image
Navratri is a Hindu festival that is celebrated for nine days every year in the autumn. The word 'Navratri' is derived from two sanskrit words, 'Nava' means nine and 'Ratri' means night.  It is celebrated for various reasons in different regions of India. However, in this blog I've covered only one story, that is of Goddess Durga's victory over an evil demon Mahishaasurr and restored Dharma.  Celebrations include worshiping nine Goddess in nine days, stage setting, fasting, plays, dramas, and bonfire. The nine days are solely dedicated to nine different avatars of Goddess Durga-Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Sidhidatri.  How I celebrated Navratri this year!  Honestly, Navaratri is one of my most favorite festivals and every year I eagerly wait for this one. This festival actually brings me so much of happiness and positivity.  During Navratri, I keep a fast for seven days ...

Respect your teachers!

Teachers or Gurus play a very crucial role in everyone's life. In the Hindu religion, Gurus are reversed as God. The word Guru can be defined as, "Gu" means darkness, "Ru" means light, "GURU" finally means, " The one who brings you from darkness to light".  So, we can say that a Guru is a person who brings you from darkness to light even when everyone else fails to do so. They are the one who tolerates our silly mistakes and helped us to grow as a whole. There are many times our teachers have helped us other than studies as well. Remember that time, When you failed to understand something and the teacher took extra time to teach you the same, When you didn't believe in yourself but they did and they supported you and motivated you to go ahead and take some difficult steps for your better future, When you were stressing about your exam and they relaxed you at the end moment so that you don't spoil everything, When you fumbled in a pres...

So, here I start narrating the Story.  The story of Krishna and Kaaliya is told in sixteenth chapter of the Tenth Canto of the Bhagavata Purana. Once, Radha took a walk across river Yamuna and became terrified upon seeing the giant snake like creature. She went to Vrindavan and informed the people about the giant snake. Lord Krishna was very angry upon hearing this and wanted to teach a lesson to Kaliya as he had troubled his Radha. He went to the river Yamuna searching for Kaliya, who upon seeing Krishna, coiled around Krishna's legs and constricted him. After a while, the Gokul people came to see that Krishna was in the river. Yashoda(Krishna's mother) was afraid of the snak...
