Navratri 2020

Navratri is a Hindu festival that is celebrated for nine days every year in the autumn. The word 'Navratri' is derived from two sanskrit words, 'Nava' means nine and 'Ratri' means night.

It is celebrated for various reasons in different regions of India. However, in this blog I've covered only one story, that is of Goddess Durga's victory over an evil demon Mahishaasurr and restored Dharma.

Celebrations include worshiping nine Goddess in nine days, stage setting, fasting, plays, dramas, and bonfire. The nine days are solely dedicated to nine different avatars of Goddess Durga-Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Sidhidatri.

How I celebrated Navratri this year!

Honestly, Navaratri is one of my most favorite festivals and every year I eagerly wait for this one. This festival actually brings me so much of happiness and positivity.

During Navratri, I keep a fast for seven days and on the eighth day, that is the day of Durga Puja I break my fast. For these seven days I used to eat very less but still very healthy. If I talk of my daily routine, then, I used to drink a lot of water and specially in the morning. It helped me keep hydrated and fresh, and also gave me the energy to survive the whole long day.

Around 12:00 noon, I used to have a glass of milk or some fruits, to refresh my mood and get some energy. After that, at around 5:00 pm I used to have my food, that was sometimes the rice and vegetables or sometimes the pakodas with amazing chatnis. And at night, again I used to have a glass of milk.

Meanwhile, I used to attend my online classes that are being conducted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, I wrote some poetry and blogs, and made some art piece, that I'll soon share with you all as well.

This was my daily routine for past seven days. Today, is the day of Durga Puja, also known as Ashtami. On this day, in the morning we got ready, wearing beautiful clothes and smiles on our faces we gathered in our pooja room(mandir) of our house and worshipped Goddess Durga. After Durga Poojan, I broke my fast eating the prasad.

These seven days made me learn a lot of things. I have learned about patience, peace and happiness. Since, only I was having a fast at home, so it was very difficult for me to keep myself away from the tasty food which made me even more patient. At the Durga poojan, when I was worshipping Mata Durga, it gave me peace and happiness

AT LAST

Navratri always brings me happiness, peace and positivity. The colours, the clothes, the food and actually the vibes of this festival blows my mind and leaves me with a lot of good memories.
